Fed by the Ticino River, Maggiore Lake is located on the north-western side of Milan and is the second largest lake in the whole of Italy.
Around 212 square km / 82 square miles in size, Lake Maggiore (Lago Maggiore) features a maximum depth of approximately 370 metres / 1,220 feet. In 1826, the introduction of ferry services helped to develop the area and Lake Maggiore has become a popular excursion for visitors staying in nearby Milan.
