Milan's Civic Aquarium is located on the north-western side Milan and dates back to the early 20th century, when it was built for the National Exposition.
Featuring stylish Art Nouveau architecture, attractions at Milan's Civic Aquarium include more than 100 species of fish and aquatic life, with around 40 tanks in total. Attractions of particular interesting at the Milan Civic Aquarium include typical Mediterranean sea and Italian freshwater creatures, many types of tropical fish, and a number of extremely rare marine specimens.
The Civic Aquarium in Milan also houses an extensive library in the Hydrobiological Station, containing a wide-range of specialist marine and aquatic books.
